Stop the World, I want to get off.
The absolute state of this story is too much to take.
This is the letter that was sent to comedian Konstantin Kisin, from the SOAS University in London, inviting him to perform at an event featuring –
You guessed it – COMEDY
What the hell is going on in the World?
Since when did people have to be shielded from comedy? Are we all so bloody fragile, that a person standing on a stage telling jokes is going to do irrevocable damage to us?
For crying out loud, this is beyond parody now.
The best (or worst if you like) part of this letter is the line that reads –
“By signing this contract, you are agreeing to our no tolerance policy with regards to racism, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia or anti-religion or anti-atheism.”
So basically, you can’t make jokes about anything.
Well I say this :
To all of you deranged, weak-minded, overly-coddled, spoilt, self-indulgent, egotistical, easily-offended, jazz-hand-waving morons out there – get over yourselves.
Nobody with a brain takes clowns like you seriously.
You may think that by stifling criticism, and ridicule of certain topics, that you can spare people pain and misery; and that you are signalling how virtuous you are by “protecting those less fortunate than yourselves”.
You aren’t. In fact, you’re making things worse.
Yes, bad things happen to people.
Yes, some people are sensitive about certain subjects.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t poke fun at them.
So you’re offended by something? Ok. What does that even mean? Is it going to kill you because you’re offended by something?
Or could you just maybe act like an adult, ignore it and go about your day?
I sincerely urge you all to do just that.
Please, I beg you all to watch this video by Steve Hughes, and LISTEN to what he has to say about “being offended”.
Because believe me, it’s time to stop with all of this PC rubbish once and for all.
